Tokyo stocks finished higher Monday, with the Nikkei index ending at a two-week high, on revised US gross domestic product data for the final quarter of 2015 that exceeded expectations, as well as the yen's depreciation.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average ended up 131.62 points, or 0.77%, from Friday at 17,134.37. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange closed 15.80 points, or 1.16%, higher at 1,381.85, according to Japan's (Kyodo) News Agency.
Every industry category on the main section except mining gained ground, led by marine transport, warehousing and harbor transport service issues.
