The Dow Jones Industrial Average declined 46.23 points or 0.3% to close at 18,479.91. The index was down as much as 70 points earlier in the day.
The large-cap S&P 500 Index closed down 0.2% at 2,181.30. Share declines in technology stocks drove the Nasdaq Composite Index 0.5% lower to 5,259.48.
