Austrian daily Wiener Zeitung hailed Iran’s performance as head of the recent meeting of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC). The daily wrote in a report that the Iranian Oil Minister Rostam Qassemi who acted as the rotatory chairman of the meeting managed to drop the OPEC production ceiling. It also noted that the OPEC member states managed to reach an agreement for the first time in three years to restrict the organization’s production ceiling. The 160th OPEC meeting decided on 30 million barrels per day as its production ceiling. Iran is to hand the OPEC chairmanship to Iraq next year.
