Minister of Industry and Trade Munir Fakhry Abdel Nour is to leave for the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa later Tuesday to take part in meetings of the African Union trade ministers.
His participation in the three-day meetings to open later in the day comes in light of Egypt's interest in taking in a high-level participation in such African economic gatherings.
The ministerial meeting will take up setting up an African free trade zone, said a statement issued by the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
Abdel Nour is to hold several meetings with other African ministers, who will be taking part in the meetings, on bilateral cooperation and other issues of joint concern.
