The China Foundation for Disabled Persons (CFDP) raised nearly 2 billion yuan (308.6 million U.S. dollars) from 2011 to 2015 and spent 1.83 billion yuan on various charity programs.
The figures were revealed at a meeting on Thursday by Wang Naikun, director of the foundation.
According to Wang, public donations to the CFDP are growing steadily, yet the organization still faces challenges such as limited fundraising channels and a shortage of high-level professional teams. In the future, the foundation should make better use of online platforms, she said.
The foundation's main charity projects over the past five years have included surgeries for cataract patients, financial support and rehabilitation for hearing-impaired poor children and general support for the poor, people with disabilities and their family members.
China has about 85 million disabled people, accounting for about 6.3 percent of the total population.
