Railway officials of India and Pakistan on Wednesday held a meeting at the Joint Check Post at the Attari-Wagah border in Punjab state to enhance trade through rail between the neighbouring countries. The meeting was held in a very cordial atmosphere and both the nations unanimously agreed that departure of goods trains from both sides should be on time so that rummaging could be carried out during the day in order to restrict smuggling, pti reported quoting officials as saying. India and Pakistan Railways agreed to extend fresh and brand new racks to facilitate trade on both sides since there were complaints on part of the traders that damaged boggies caused huge loss to perishable items and cement bags during rainy season, they said. The 13-member Indian delegation was led DRM Ferozpur Vishesh Chobbey and the 11-member Pakistani delegation was led by Pakistan Railway official Mohammad Jawed. During the meeting Assistant Custom Commissioner, Lahore, Abbas Ali and Indian Assistant Customs Commissioner, Attari, V K Khosla were present to discuss Customs- related issued between the two nations.
