Beirut - Irna

Lebanon Electricity Company has decided to buy some 25 megawatts of electricity from Iran in April. According to Beirut news resources, the figure will rise to 100 megawatts within the framework of an agreements to be signed by the two countries in future. The amount of electricity will be transferred to the Arab state through Iraq and Syria. The proposal to buy electricity from Iran was made during President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s recent visit to Lebanon but it seems that some foreign and internal pressures have created serious obstacles in the way of its materialization. In addition to selling electricity to Lebanon, Iran has also proposed to set up power stations inside the country.
