Consumer price index fell further this month, data showed Friday.
The National Institute of Statistics (Istat) said in a report that inflation fell to -0.1% this month, down from 0.2% in March. The result puts more pressure on the European Central Bank to act in its next meeting on June 5th.
The Eurozone has been facing a threat of deflation since the beginning of 2014. Last month, President of ECB Mario Draghi acknowledged last month that they might have to act if the risk of deflation remain. He did not clarify what actions are the ECB likely to take.
