Sales of used vehicles in Japan declined 4.7 percent in October from a year earlier, marking the fifth consecutive month of retraction, data released by the Japan Automobile Dealers Association showed Friday. Sales of secondhand vehicles totaled 308,828 units in the recording period, with the drop being attributed to fewer trade-in vehicles being sold following a drop in sales of new vehicles, the association said. The figures showed that sales of passenger cars dropped 4.1 percent to 267,934 units and that of buses decreased 16.8 percent year-on-year to 1,077 units in the recording month. While the association's figures did not cover sales of minivehicles, on the other side of the scale, sales of trucks retreated 7.6 percent to 32,940 in October, marking a second consecutive month of decline, the association's data showed.
