Jordanian Prime Minister Awn Al-Khasawneh met here Sunday with the World Bank (WB) Managing Director Sri Mulyani Indrawati, who is currently visiting Jordan . The meeting discussed cooperation between Jordan and the World Bank. Al Khasawneh briefed the WB Official on the economic challenges facing Jordan, referring to the damage caused by increase in oil prices and the disruption of Egyptian gas. He stressed that the difficult economic conditions affected mainly on the middle and poor classes in society. He also explained his country''s efforts to attract foreign investment, stressing that Jordan enjoys favourable atmosphere to attract such investments. In turn, the WB Official affirmed the Bank''s support for Jordan''s efforts aimed at increasing economic competitiveness, control public expenditure, job creation and supporting the needy people.
