The next summit of European Union leaders will be held on February 3, several EU sources told AFP on Friday. The date, still to be officially confirmed, falls within the planned range set out by EU president Herman Van Rompuy on Thursday, and comes days after negotiations on a new fiscal pact are due to wrap up. "You can all but confirm it as the 3rd," said one EU official, a comment echoed by two other officials. Euro finance ministers, meanwhile, are expected to begin two-day talks, probably via teleconference, on Monday, two sources also said. That is the self-imposed deadline for EU leaders to come up with 200 billion euros ($260 billion) of promised loans to boost IMF resources to stabilise the debt-laden eurozone.
