Producer prices in the European Union rose 0.7 percent in January from December, Eurostat, the region's data office, said Friday. Producer prices also rose 0.7 percent In the 17-member eurozone, the area that shares the euro as currency, Eurostat said. Compared to a year ago in January, prices for industrial producers rose 4.4 percent in the 27-member European Union and 3.7 percent in the eurozone. Energy prices showed the largest gains in both regions, rising 2.2 percent in the eurozone from December to January and 2.1 percent in the EU.
