Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukri received Tuesday Sindiso Ndema Ngwenya, the Secretary-General of the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA), who is the coordinator of three African blocs, namely COMESA, the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and The East African Community (EAC).
Foreign Ministry spokesman Badr Abdel-Ati said the meeting took up cooperation between Egypt and COMESA in the various domains especially in the fields of economy and trade as Egypt is one of the organization's prominent members.
Abdel-Ati said the meeting also took up efforts on holding a summit in Cairo for the three blocs which bring together 26 countries, pointing out that the summit is expected to announce the inauguration of a free trade zone with the aim of boosting trade relations among the African states.
