A storage facility at a steele factory in Sohar Industrial Estate was gutted on Friday night, according to a press release issued by Royal Oman Police (ROP) on Saturday late night. "As soon as fire broke out a civil defence team rushed to the factory and controlled the blaze before it could spread to the adjcent units," Lt Abdullah al Raisi, an officer from the Civil Defence Centre at the Sohar Industrial Port, said. "It took the firefighters hours to douse the fire, which started at a minerals warehouse attached to the factory," he added. He also revealed that the fire did not cause any human loss or injuries. He pointed out that the blaze could have been caused by improper storing of material or high temperatures in a closed area.
