A police petrol came under heavy fire from unknown source at the entrance of the Eastern Saudi city of Al-Awamiah, a security official announced Saturday.
In a press statement, the spokesman of the Eastern Region Police said that the incident took place on 2:00 a.m. local time and caused the eruption of a fire at satellite oil pipeline near the site of the attack.
The firefighting teams rushed to the scene and managed to extinguish the fire. An investigation was launched and a wide-scale manhunt started to bring the assailants to justice, added the spokesman.
