Egypt's Embassy in Amman urged Egyptian workers who are illegally staying in Jordan to correct their status.
Ambassador Khalid Tharwat asked the Egyptians to legalize their stay in the kingdom before the end of a 60-day deadline ending on April 24, as the only way to avoid deportation.
"We held meeting with Jordan's labor minister Nidal Katamine to discuss facilitations provided for Egyptian workers," the ambassador told MENA.
The meeting took up also developing a new mechanism to relief workers with illegal stay status from being arrested at checkpoints before deportation, he added.
"About 47 out of 500 Egyptian workers have corrected their stay," the diplomat added.
