Gaza civil servants Tuesday declared a general strike to protest long delay in their salaries.
The strike also came to pressure Palestinian authorities to officially recognize them as part of the Palestinian unity government.
The strike by employees in all Gaza's ministries and government institutions is a response for not having received their salaries yet," Mohamed Seyam, the head of the Gaza Strip's public employees' union stated.

The strike excluded sections of the Ministry of Health such as the reception, emergency, operation, urgent deliveries, kidney dialysis, the Blood Bank and the Intensive Care Unit, Seyam added, noting that the strike will continue until employees receive their full rights.
