'The Virgin, The Copts and Me' Egyptian documentary about reported sightings by Coptic Christians of the Virgin Mary is to participate in New York's Tribeca Film Festival 19 - 29 April. Egyptian documentary film The Virgin, The Copts and Me by French-Egyptian filmmaker Namir Abdel-Messeeh will be participating in this year’s Tribeca Film Festival in New York (19 -29 April). Although the film initially investigates the reported sightings by Egypt’s Coptic Christians of Virgin Mary apparitions, the film turns to a family portrait of the filmmaker himself. The documentary won third place at the Berlinale’s Panorama Audience Awards and was screened at several festivals including the Doha Tribeca Film Festival. According to AFP, Tribeca was founded in 2002 in a bid to help the neighborhood around the destroyed World Trade Center to recover. Although it is not considered an A-list festival, it has established a following. From: Ahram online
