Iron Maiden singer Bruce Dickinson was diagnosed with a cancerous tumor on the back of his tongue in December, the band unveiled Thursday on its website.
The statement revealed doctors found the tumor during a routine check up, and stated the 56-year-old rocker completed his seventh week of chemotherapy and radiology treatment on Wednesday. Because the cancer was caught in the early stages, doctors are confident his prognosis is "extremely good."
"Bruce's medical team fully expect him to make a complete recovery with the all clear envisaged by late May," read the statement.
Dickinson first joined the British metal band in 1981, but left it to pursue a solo career in 1995. He rejoined Iron Maiden in 1999.
