Reno - UPI
Authorities said this year's Burning Man festival in the remote northern Nevada desert was filled to capacity during the weekend. The temporary encampment and art festival in Pershing County was filled with 68,000 attendees by Friday morning and the sheriff's department was not allowing anyone in unless someone else left. Burning Man organizers said 68,000 was the limit placed on the event by the U.S. Bureau of Land Management. Dawn broke Sunday amid a haze caused by early risers moving around and raising dust on the streets of Black Rock City. The weather has been better than usual, with balmy nights and mild days, KNTV-TV, San Jose, Calif. said. Blowing dust has also been minimal. Burning Man runs through Labor Day. Each night is capped by the torching of one of the elaborate large wooden sculptures erected on the site. Saturday was highlighted by the immolation of a work called Photochapel.
