Matthew McConaughey was the honoree during last week's 28th American Cinematheque Award Gala Tribute, but that didn't keep actress Kate Hudson from stealing the spotlight of the night with her spot-on impression of the True Detective star.
Hudson, 35, starred with McConaughey in 2003's How To Lose a Guy in 10 Days and in 2008's Fool's Gold. As the actress took the stage to commemorate McConaughey, she told a story from the time the two starred in Fools Golds and let out an uncanny imitation of the Oscar-winning actor.
"There was also a time when we were shooting 'Fools Gold' and we had to get certified...for scuba diving. ...And we're way out on the Great Barrier Reef, and I had just found out that my divorce had been finalized, I was terrified of swimming with sharks, and I was just staring at the water like, 'What's happened in my life?" Hudson began her story, "And then out of the water pops Matthew. No shirt, full gear, spits out the regulator. And he's like..."
"Come on, Hudson -- let's go baby, uh huh," she said mimicking McConaughey's gestures. "It's like 1969 down there, baby, it's Woodstock, man."
McConaughey, the 28th recipient of the American Cinematheque Award, was also honored by fellow entertainers Jennifer Garner, Cole Houser, Reese Witherspoon, Lili Zanuck and Jessica Chastain.
