Miranda Lambert thinks every artist wants to be in the country genre now because "it's the cool one". The singer is proud to be a country star and loves that more young people are listening to that type of music these days. She thinks its popularity will continue to soar over the coming months. "Right now it seems like the girls are drawing more attention to country music. The tides are turning a bit. We are popular music now," she laughed to Parade. "Every other genre is starting to come over to our genre now because it's the cool one! I think the females are leading that, and I have to give a lot of that credit to Taylor Swift for having crossover fans come our way." Miranda is married to fellow country musician Blake Shelton. The pair are both nominated for the Video of the Year prize at the upcoming CMT Music Awards and are supporting each other. Although they have "friendly competition" the stars are glad to both be doing well. The pair celebrated their first wedding anniversary earlier this month, although they didn't do anything fancy. Miranda and Blake are so busy they don't see each other much, and just enjoyed spending time together at home. Miranda, 28, was born in Texas and loves telling people about her home state. "We're a little bit more proud than other people. There's just something about that Texas spirit. We're proud of our state and proud of who we are and just a little bit snooty about it, but I think it's OK!" she said.
