Ricky Martin's passion for performing has endured throughout his decades-long career.
The 42-year-old singer detailed his love for music in an interview with Extra. Martin began his career at age 12 in the pop group Menudo, and told host Mario Lopez he is still as enthusiastic about performing 30 years later.
"I'm just as passionate today," he declared. "I love locking myself in the studio, I love meeting great producers and great musicians, but the stage, man. The stage, performing, the audience, the immediate reaction is something that is incredibly addictive, and that's why I'm still here."
Martin spent five years with Menudo, and released his first solo album, Ricky Martin, in 1991. He last debuted his ninth studio album, Musica + Alma + Sexo, in January 2011, and gave thanks for his continued success in the interview.
"Health, family, of course success," he related. "The tour I'm doing right now in Mexico, it's one of the most amazing tours I've ever done. Just to be able to walk on stage and see 20,000 people every night, it's fascinating. So yeah, the love of the audience."
Martin kicked off his One World Tour in October 3 in Mexico City, and will close December 20 in Culiacan. He is scheduled to tour New Zealand and Australia in April and May, and will return as a coach for season five of The Voice Mexico.
