Dubai - Arabstoday

Dubai is fast becoming the hot spot for stars from Bollywood, Hollywood and the UK to ring in 2012 tabloid! has learnt that Salman Khan jetted into town with his family in tow on Tuesday night, while his frenemy Shah Rukh Khan will jet into town today. Given their tumultuous friendship, their paths are unlikely to cross. While the Don 2 star is planning to throw a lavish bash for his close friends at his villa in Palm Jumeirah, the Bodyguard star will get the fireworks started with his clan at another separate private bash. Their Western counterparts are not far behind as they gear up to anchor themselves in Dubai this New Year's Eve by jumping aboard the luxurious Queen Elizabeth 2 (QE2) vessel. The black-tie event, organised by Global Event Management, has unveiled a glittering line-up of stars including troubled Hollywood actress Lindsay Lohan, Baywatch star Pamela Anderson and actor Liam Cunningham. Billed as the ultimate bash of the year, US sitcom and film star Lamman Rucker, former England cricketer Allan Lamb and British socialite and model Lady Victoria Hervey will join the battalion to welcome 2012. Shah Rukh Khan may also appear on the ship. In a separate event, British TV stars Amy Childs (The Only Way Is Essex) and Denise Van Outen are tipped to be at Embassy, along with Peter Andre. While some celebrities prefer to jump aboard a luxury ship in Port Rashid Cruise Terminal to bid goodbye to 2011 or head to a nightclub, a few others prefer to keep it low-key. Word has it that Bollywood actors Farhan Akhtar and Hrithik Roshan have booked their tickets to Dubai to celebrate their successful 2011 innings with Shah Rukh Khan. Roshan's wife Suzzanne and Shah Rukh's wife Gauri and their two kids are reportedly in the city making the most of their festive holidays. While it may be all play and no work for actors this weekend, the RA.One star is also likely to put in a cameo appearance at a grand wedding that will feature singers such as Sonu Nigam and Sunidhi Chauhan. Apart from A-listers, Pakistani starlet Veena Malek and model-actress Sophie Choudry will be in Dubai on New Year's Eve. While Malek is putting in an appearance at the Fortune Plaza Hotel in Al Ghusais, Choudry is performing at a gig organised by the Country Club at the Dubai Airport Expo. For tickets to bashes, contact 04-4443459 (QE2 bash, Dh3,000 and Dh6,000, limited availability), 055-9695312 (for Veena Malek) and 050-9110451 (Country Club).
