Hong Kong-based actress Sherming Yiu and her boyfriend of eight years, Alan Wu, met with ill luck during their wedding photo shoot in Japan, held just days before the couple's big day, reported Hong Kong media. Even though the couple had already completed a wedding photo shoot in Hong Kong earlier, Yiu wanted to be photographed again in Japan. "My fiancé (Wu) proposed to me in Japan and I always thought that it would be very romantic to have a wedding photo shoot with the cherry blossoms in the background, so we decided to do it again," said Yiu. The wedding photo shoot had to be postponed to early April due to the delay of the cherry blossom blooming this year, causing much worry for the bride-to-be. "First, we had to wait until Japan announces the cherry blossoms blooming dates before we could book our flight. "Second, air tickets during the Easter holiday were so difficult to get," recounted Yiu, adding that they had to fly to Japan a few days earlier for the wedding photo shoot. After the challenge of making their way to Japan was completed, the couple was faced with a bigger obstacle – a rainstorm, the strongest that had blasted through Japan in the last 59 years. "I have never seen such a strong rainstorm – it felt like we would be blown away by the wind if we had been on the streets. "We just stayed indoors for the entire day as we didn't dare to step out," said Yiu, who was very worried that the scheduled photo shoot may have to be cancelled. Fortunately, there was fine weather on the final day of their trip and the couple got the photos they wanted. "It was a beautiful day, but when we were shooting by the seaside, the temperature was nearly zero degrees [celcius]; it was very cold!" said Yiu, who was dressed in a tube wedding gown during the shoot. Yiu will marry Wu in a Western-style 30-table wedding banquet at Ritz Carlton hotel on April 26 and an elaborate 100-table retro-themed wedding ceremony on April 29, in a traditional walled village in Hong Kong.
