Moscow - Arabstoday

Italian Fabio Capello, appointed Russia's national football coach this week, on Saturday attended his first domestic game as coach, a Premier League clash between CSKA Moscow and Rostov. The 66-year-old -- who has not yet signed a contract with the Russian Football Union (RFU) -- will also attend reigning champions Zenit St Petersburg's domestic league home match with Amkar Perm on Sunday. Capello took his seat in the VIP stands at the CSKA-Rostov match outside Moscow, one of the first games of the new Russian domestic season which kicked off on Friday. He will be able to make an early check on the form of Russia's top stars, with the CSKA line-up including midfielder Alan Dzagoev and goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev. RFU deputy president Nikita Simonyan said that all details of Capello's contract had now been ironed out and the Italian football guru is expected to sign a two-year deal on Wednesday. Capello takes over from Dutchman Dick Advocaat, who guided Russia to the Euro 2012 finals in Poland and Ukraine, but saw his side knocked out at the group stages. Capello previously coached AC Milan, Roma, Juventus and Real Madrid, winning domestic titles with each, before becoming England manager in 2007. Under Capello, England qualified for Euro 2012 before the Italian resigned after falling out with Football Association chiefs after he stood by John Terry as skipper despite the Chelsea player being embroiled in a racism trial which ultimately saw the defender acquitted.
