Alex Ferguson is refusing to panic over an injury crisis and instead intends to put Manchester City in a sweat. Manchester United have eight first-teamers out with Nemanja Vidic and Darren Fletcher both KO'd for the rest of the season. But boss Fergie insists he still has enough in reserve to see them through and will not be diving into a New Year spending frenzy. He said: "I think it's how you handle the situation. We're not panicking. We've got enough experience in the staff to cope with these things. "We know it happens and there's no point crying about it. You just get on with it, there's nothing else you can do. "You've got injuries, deal with it. As long as we don't get any more, I think we're capable of getting through it. "We've got players capable of wearing the red jersey and they'll wear it with complete confidence they can do well. "We have enough players who have experienced what's going to happen in the next few months anyway and they will be important." Plenty of United fans want to see Ferguson active in the January window but he is resisting the temptation to spend for the sake of it. Ferguson added: "You're always tempted if you feel the right player comes along, you have to be. But they're not there, so what do you do?" And he has so far resisted the temptation to ask Paul Scholes if he wants to come out of retirement! The United midfield legend, 37, called it a day at the end of last season and has been coaching the club's youth and reserve team players. Scholes has admitted he slightly regretted not staying on for another season, as Ferguson had asked, and was missing the game.
