At least 20 suspected militants and six security personnel were killed on Saturday in a clash in Orakzai tribal region of northwestern Pakistan bordering Afghanistan, said reports.
According to reports, the terrorists armed with heavy weapons attacked Zawan check post in Shirin Dara area of Lower Orakzai and killed six security men and injured three others. The security forces retaliated by killing at least 20 militants.
Meanwhile, a security man was killed and another was injured in a blast caused by an improvised explosive device in the Bajaur tribal region.
Orakzai is one of Pakistan's seven semi-autonomous tribal regions bordering Afghanistan that is facing militants' insurgency for many years. The attacks by the militants came at a time as Pakistan military has launched operation 'Zarb e Azb' and 'Khyber-I' against foreign and local militants in tribal areas.
