Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General and Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) Martin Kobler on Sunday quoted "important reports" as saying that Daesh has about 2,000 to 3,000 militants in Sirte, along with more 2,000 militants in other Libyan cities.
In statements, Kobler added that armed forces loyal to the Libyan presidential council managed to eliminate a dangerous terror cell belongs to Daesh.
Investigations revealed that the cell had links with Nigeria's Boko Haram, Kobler said.
He added that Daesh attempts to expand its control outside Sirte in cooperation with other gangs and militias.
