UN secretary General Ban-Ki Moon strongly condemned the latest terrorist attacks in Yemen which reportedly left over 180 soldiers dead. In a statement issued late on Wednesday by Ban's Spokesman here, the Secretary -General condemned the attacks "particularly the bombing attack on 25 February at the Presidential Palace in Mukalla which killed at least 26 officers and Sunday's attacks on military bases in southern Yemen. " Ban Further welcomed the commitment of the newly appointed Yemeni President, Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi to combat terrorism in Yemen, including the threat of Al Qaeda and associated groups. He re-emphasized that "peace, security and stability can only be achieved through an inclusive political engagement. In this regard, he calls on all sides in Yemen to prepare for a transparent, inclusive and meaningful National Dialogue Process."
