At least one killed and 17 others were injured in Syrian regime forces' heavy shelling to the ancient Palmyra city, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) said on Saturday.

The shelling hit many areas in the ancient city, controlled by Daesh extremists since May 2015, SOHR said, and has since partially destroyed world-famous ruins. The terrorist group has also used the site for mass executions.
