Joint Task Force on Syria Begins Meeting in Astana
Astana - Arab Today

Experts from Russia, Turkey and Iran kicked off a technical meeting in Kazakhstan's capital, Astana, on Monday to discuss in detail the implementation of the Syrian ceasefire agreement.
Kazakhstan's Foreign Ministry said that the trilateral international meeting on Syrian settlement is being held now in Astana with experts from Russia, Iran and UN representatives are taking part, Kazakh news agency (Kazinform) reported.
Representatives of Jordan are expected to partake in the event too, it added.
The agenda of the meeting includes reviewing the implementation of the cessation of hostilities, discussing a proposal from the Syrian armed opposition about the ceasefire, and determining options about how to implement it. the parties also plan to discuss cooperation on humanitarian issues and increasing the trust levels between the Syrian government and the opposition.
During the Astana talks that took place on January 23-24 and brought together the representatives of the Syrian government and the armed opposition groups for the first time since the beginning of the Syrian war in 2011, the three guarantor countries (Russia, Iran and Turkey) have reached an agreement to create a trilateral commission to monitor breaches of the established ceasefire to minimize truce violations.
