Battlestar Galactica, which developed a cult following when its short-lived first series aired from 1978 to 1979, might be due for a big-screen reboot. Rumors of a film adaptation have existed for years since the the Sci-Fi channel's highly-acclaimed interpretation aired from 2004 to 2009. But Universal Studios has reportedly taken the first steps and signed original series creator Glen Larson to produce and Transcendence screenwriter Jack Paglen to pen the script. Variety describes the possible reboot as a "complete reimagining of the story," so its unlikely that fans of the 2004 series will get to see some of their favorite characters -- Katee Sackhoff's Starbuck, Tricia Helfer's Number Six or Mary McDonnell's President Laura Roslin -- on the big screen.
