Cairo - Khaled Farag
Egyptian superstar Yousra has asked Egyptians to heed the call made by army chief General al-Sisi and demonstrate on Friday in order to ‘authorize the armed forces to confront terrorism’. Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, who is also Egypt’s new defence minister, caused controversy on Wednesday when he called on Egyptians to demonstrate in order to give security forces “a mandate to confront possible violence and terrorism\", a move Muslim Brotherhood supporters condemned as an “announcement of civil war\". Actress and singer Yousra told Arab Today that she would be taking part in the Friday demonstrations, planned for Tahrir Square in Cairo, and expressed confidence that the Egyptian people would prove their support for the Egyptian army in a repeat of the mass demonstrations of June 30 that led to the overthrow of former president Mohammed Morsi. On a different topic, Yousra revealed that she had completed the filming of Nikdib Law Qulna Ma Bnhibish (We’d Be Lying If We Said We Didn’t Love), indicating that director Ghada Salim had begun editing the show.
