Egyptian actress Merihan Magdi, known as Koki, has told Arabstoday that she cannot wait for the domestic football league season to finish, so she can marry her footballer fiancé Islam Essam. Koki's future husband, playing at Ghazl al-Mahalla, is the son of the Egyptian Football Association's refereeing chief, Essam Siam. In terms of her own work, Koki says she is taking her time before settling on a new project after the success of her television series Khorm Ibra [The Eye of the Needle]. The series, which stars Amr Saad, was shown in Ramadan last year. The young actress says she is reading film and television scripts everyday, but is yet to find the right project. Koki followed in the footsteps of her sister Ruby, launching her career with a role in TV series Dawaran Shubra [The Shubra Roundabout], in which she played an inner-city girl.
