Singer Walid Tawfik

Lebanese Singer Walid Tawfik said his latest participation at the Shop Qatar festival was “unique” and that his popularity in the oil-rich gulf country has “surpassed his expectations.”
In an interview with Arab Today, Tawfik said he feels the passion of his fans not only in Qatar but everywhere in the Arab world.
Held under the slogan ‘A Brand New Tradition’, the festival will feature discounts on popular brands, cash prizes worth up to QAR4m and special offers on flights and hotel bookings. The event will also host entertainment options including Cats the Broadway musical, live music concerts and 15 stand-up comedy acts.
The veteran singer hinted his interest in participating in a film or TV series pointing out he Is familiar with cinema as he have previously participated in a movie.
Tawfik grew up with his family in Tripoli, Lebanon. He later relocated to western Beirut and lived in the residential area of Ibn Rashd Street. His first oud tutor was the blind Amin Azar. During this period, Tawfik worked to raise enough money for his music lessons.
In 1973, he participated in the Lebanese talent show, Studio El Fan. His success in this show was his first step towards stardom. He was described as "the beginner who performed like a star.”
Later, he became popular and made his big break in Egypt. His acting career began soon afterwards where he starred in movies with various Arab stars, including Farid al-Atrash, Mariam Fakhr Eddine, Madiha Yousri, Samir Ghanem, Laila Elwi, Duraid Lahham, Hoda Sultan, Saeed Saleh, Raghda, and Athar El-Hakim, among others.
