Beirut - Sleiman Asfahany
Legendary actor Duraid Lahham has told Arabstoday that people tried to attack a television set on which he was filming with Syrian director Laith Hajjo in Lebanon, widely interpreted as an assassination attempt targeting him in particular. Lahham revealed the purpose was more likely to be physically assaulting him as the attackers did not carry weapons. Lahham told Arabstoday he did not witness the attack and did not know the reason behind it. The actor said director Hajjo immediately contacted Lebanese security forces and the Syrian embassy in Beirut, who secured the area and evacuated the crew. The actor described the attack as \"barbaric\" and speculated as to whether the Free Syrian Army (FSA) could have been responsible. Sources have told Arabstoday that Lebanese Salafists were responsible for the attack.
