helicopter crash in Turkey's southeast

Thirteen Turkish soldiers were killed Wednesday when a helicopter crashed in the southeast region after hitting a high-voltage transmission line, the army said in a statement.

The army said the Cougar type helicopter fell shortly after taking off from a military base in the Sirnak province bordering Iraq, killing all 13 personnel onboard.

"As a result of the painful accident, our hero comrades in the helicopter fell as martrys," the army said.
