US President Barack Obama on Saturday drove home his message about gun control, a day after five police officers were killed in Dallas during a protest against the shooting of black Americans.

"If you care about the safety of our police officers, then you can't set aside the gun issue and pretend that that's irrelevant," Obama told a news conference at a NATO summit in Warsaw.
