At least 60 people were killed when a truck ploughed into a crowd watching a Bastille Day fireworks display in the southern French resort of Nice, prosecutors said early Friday.

Nice prosecutor Jean-Michel Pretre said the truck drove two kilometres (1.3 miles) through a large crowd that was watching the fireworks.
