Bangladesh's Supreme Court on Thursday upheld the death sentence of Islamist party leader Motiur Rahman Nizami for crimes during the country's 1971 independence struggle.
Chief Justice S.K. Sinha dismissed the final appeal of Nizami, head of the Jamaat-e-Islami party, who was convicted of murder, rape and orchestrating the killing of top intellectuals, said an AFP correspondent at the courtroom.
