Brazil's Supreme Court on Wednesday rejected a last-ditch attempt by President Michel Temer to have corruption charges against him suspended, opening the way for Congress to vote on whether to open a trial.

A 6-0 majority on the court voted down Temer's appeal, with five more justices still due to vote. Temer is accused of obstructing justice and racketeering.
