Brazil's Supreme Court on Tuesday suspended a lower court order blocking popular smartphone message service WhatsApp for refusing to hand data over to police.

"The decision was taken by the president of the court, Ricardo Lewandowski," a spokesman told AFP. WhatsApp was blocked for slightly less than four hours.
