President Pierre Nkurunziza

Burundi's main opposition leader Agathon Rwasa called Wednesday for elections to be delayed following days of protests against a third term bid by President Pierre Nkurunziza.

"A postponement of the elections... is imperative, the credibility of the electoral process is already in doubt," Rwasa told AFP, the former leader of the ex-rebel National Liberation Forces (FNL), a Hutu group.
