Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos

Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos said Friday that peace in his country was "very, very close" as he accepted the Nobel Prize on behalf of his people.

"We are very, very close to achieving peace... I receive this award in their name: the Colombian people who have suffered so much with this war," the foundation said on its official Twitter account, quoting from an exclusive interview with Santos after he won the prestigious award for efforts to end his country's five-decade civil war.
