At least 75 people were killed when a truck drove into a crowd watching a fireworks display in the French resort of Nice, a lawmaker said Friday.

Eric Ciotti, who represents the Alpes-Maritimes region for the Republicans party, said another 15 people were in a "critical state" after the truck drove through the crowd over a distance of two kilometres (1.3 miles).
