EU leaders will use a summit in Brussels to send a "message of unity" with Madrid in the Catalonia independence crisis, French President Emmanuel Macron said Thursday.

Arriving for two days of talks with other European leaders as Spain grapples with its worst political crisis in decades, Macron said they would give fresh backing to Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy.
