Jakarta's Christian governor had a narrow lead in the city's election Wednesday but the vote looked set to go to a run-off in April against a Muslim challenger, private pollsters indicated.

A series of early tallies of votes carried out by the polling companies showed incumbent Basuki Tjahaja Purnama on 43-44 percent, ahead of second-placed Anies Baswedan on 39 percent.

The third candidate Agus Yudhoyono trailed on 16-17 percent, the surveys showed.
