Eurozone finance ministers on Friday approved the first €26bn of a third bailout package to help rebuild Greece's economy.

The IMF on Wednesday said it would take part in Greece's massive bailout after receiving reassurances from eurozone governments on debt relief, a top official from the Washington-based fund said.

"The IMF will take part to the programme... provided that the debt sustainability measures make the debt sustainable," said Poul Thomsen, the International Monetary Fund's Director for Europe, after marathon talks with eurozone finance ministers.
