Sixteen people died when a bus carrying Hungarian teenagers crashed and caught fire on a motorway in northern Italy, firefighters said Saturday.

The new toll -- up from seven dead reported earlier -- is not expected to increase further, the fire service said. The crash came when the bus hit a pylon and burst into flames near the city of Verona.
